Ostomy SA provides a range of services to financial members. The most important of these services is access to the Australian Government’s Stoma Appliance Scheme, which provides free stoma appliances and pharmaceuticals to those living with a stoma.

If you are a new ostomate, a Stomal Therapy Nurse (STN) will assist you to become a member of Ostomy SA while you are in hospital. Here, they are also likely to order your first supplies for the coming weeks, and will assist you with any paperwork that needs completing. After this, you will be responsible for ordering and restocking the supplies you need. Click here for more information on ordering appliances and supplies from Ostomy SA.

Ostomy SA also provides a welcome kit to new members advising them of our services and how they can access them. New members will also receive a phone call from one of our fellow ostomates, introducing them to the organisation and answering any questions they may have.

Appliance Entitlement Card

You will be issued with an Appliance Entitlement Card when you pay for your membership. Should you lose your card, or no longer require it due to a reversal of your stoma, please advise us as soon as possible.

If you have a temporary stoma and you have been given a date for your reversal, it is important that you see your STN before going to hospital for that procedure. There are always a few questions that need to be answered and a few tips that can be given to help you return to your ‘no stoma’ status.

Please tell us when you have had your reversal so that we can update our records. Letting us know before your reversal could cause confusion if your surgery were to be postponed.
